I agree that a shorter version is better, because it looks more like
an initiative which is open for people to join.
But this is a Kolab Systems decision of course.

Your version may be a bit too simple on the part of logo and trademark use.

My initial idea was to also keep the page short and just saying something like
"Kolab is an initative to create a Free Software groupware solution. 
We are open for anyone to join us.

The logo and term Kolab itself are trademarks and you shall use it only
to mean this initiative and its products.

For the time being the company Kolab Systems AG as one of the main contributors
has taken over the duty to maintain the domain name and the trademarks 
on behalf of the Kolab initiative"
